I am a married mother of two teenagers. I work from home full time and my husband owns a small business. We recently moved from a small town in New Hampshire to an even smaller town in Mid Missouri.
I initial started this site to share stories of being a mom of teens to help other parents realize they are not alone in this crazy parenting world. However, it evolved into so much more. As the kids got older and needed me less, I needed to start finding hobbies to keep myself busy. I found myself looking into growing food, cooking from scratch and natural living. I found them so interesting that I starting writing about it and posting videos about all the things I was learning. So, Humorous Holly (my old Youtube Channel) evolved into Hollydays Homestead.
My background:
I came from a broken home and was raised by my father. I ran away from home at the age of 15 to escape the physical abuse I was enduring. I moved around a lot and stayed with friends and family until I was old enough to obtain my own apartment.
I worked my ass off and finally obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services when I was 26 years old. I have a crap ton of student loan debt and of course I don’t even work in human services anymore, but I am proud that a run away from an abusive home was able to accomplish all of this.
I am now in my forties and have decided that I want to start a small homestead. We had the land in New Hampshire, but the cost of living was expensive and the weather was less then ideal. So, my husband sold his business, we sold our house and moved half way across the country to start our homestead.
It has only been a few months and we are starting from scratch, so everything takes a lot of time and money. We are going to be starting off slow and adding things gradually through the homestead.
I hope you follow along on this homesteading journey of mine here and on my Youtube channel.
